PROBLEMS WITH FREE PASSES

Next year we are going to the city of Bariloche. This week we have the third meeting about the graduation trip. The students and parents can’t agree on this idea of the trip.

The discussion is about the “Free Passes” because too many students want the passes and it is hard to make a decision.

“The problem is very difficult” Students said.

SAN ANTONIO’S SPORTS TEAMS WINNING

On June 27, the handball team of San Antonio school went to San Francisco school. There, they played one match and won 15-10. “Francisco is the best player of the team” Martin said. And Guillermo Pionetti said “San Francisco school is a good team”.

The next week the handball team is going to the Bonaerenses Tournament. “This tournament is very difficult” Miguel Noguera said.

On July 16, San Antonio School football team, went to Merlo and played a match with Belgrano School. San Antonio won 8-1 and classified to the next round in the Bonaerense Tournament. “The match was easy in the second half,” Martin Beneite said.

On July 17, the football team of San Antonio School played a match with “La Blanquita”. The match was very difficult, and finished 3-3. San Antonio classified to the third. “The match was very, very difficult,” PE teacher Miguel Noguera said.

On July, 23 San Antonio football team played one match with Estrella de Devoto. San Antonio won 4-1 and classified to the third round. Next Thursday we will play another match. “San Antonio is a very good team” headmaster Rivarola said.

INTERVIEW TO THE ENGLISH TEACHER

On June, Friday 27^th, pupils from 2^nd, Rocio D'Andrea, Jimena Algañaraz, Victoria Molina, Carolina Rodriguez and Camina Rodriguez, interviewed the teacher of English.

I- Hello teacher, how are you?
B- Fine, fine, I'm ok.
I- Ok, starting the interview...How long have you been working as a teacher?
B- I have been working as a teacher for ten years.
I- How many courses have you got in this school?
B- Two courses.
I- How many schools are you working at the moment?
B- At the moment, I'm working at six schools.
I- Do you get on well with your students?
B- Yes, the relationship is very good.
I- Do you like your profession?
B- Yes, I like my profession, but I don't agree with the educational system.
I- Would you like your daughter, Luna, to study English to become a teacher?
B- I don’t know. I wouldn’t mind, but that will be her decision, not mine.
I- So, thank you very much for your free time.
B- No, please, it's ok! Good bye!

CLASS NEWS

On May 30, in the English class, a problem happened. In 2° Sociales classroom, one person put a nail on Blas’ chair. Blas was very angry and caled to the vice-headmaster. The headmaster warned about a group sanction.

“I am very sad with this class” Blas said. And Luciano said, “I am very angry and furious because nothing changes.”

On April 22 a terrible event happened. In 2° Sociales half the class broke one windows because they threw bottles. The headmaster suspended the class one day. “This group destroyed many things”, the porter said. And the headmaster said “They are suspended because this events are terrible”

On July 23, in the English hour, a lot of students escaped from school because the teacher Gabriela Costela was absent. “A lot of student are absent in this class,” Blas said.

On June 27, in the geography class, we made a poster for the Flag Day. “This activity was very good” Lucas said. And Gabriela said “2º Socials made the best poster.”

YANINA’S BIRTHDAY

On July 11^th at 10 pm everyone met in the house to celebrate Yanina's birthday. All the course was present. There were a lot of music and food. Also, everybody collaborated to buy the gift, but in the end we ended up giving her money. Fortunately it was a wonderful evening. The long awaited moment came for Yanina and her family. We sang the happy birthday and it was fun.

CUCUYÚ

Last weekend, many students travelled to Cucuyú to help the children that live there. The students where stayed on Friday and Saturday. They stayed inside a convent, played with the children and helped them. These children don’t have the same things that we have. Rodrigo Ruggeri said, “It was a very good trip and I would like to go again.”

There was a school trip to the science museum, so Nazarena Alegre interviewed Jael Huberty, one of the students who went there:

NA: Did you like the trip?
YH: Yes, I did. It was very funny
NA: What did you see?
YH: Electricity, chemistry and optical illusions.
NA: Which was your favourite?
YH: They were all nice and funny.
NA: If you could, would you like to go again?
YH: Yes, I would. Because I learned so much and I spent time with my friends.

GREENPEACE

Students from 2^nd Naturales went to Greenpeace, so Nazarena Alegre interviewed Aldana Quintana, one of the students who went there:

NA: Why did you and your classmates go to Greenpeace?
AQ: Because we are interested in environment.
NA: What did you do?
AQ: We visited one of the sites of Greenpeace.
NA: What did you talk about?
AQ: They told us about their campaign and objectives
NA: What do you think about Greenpeace?
AQ: I think that is very interesting what they do.
NA: Do you want to participate in this organisation?
AQ: Yes, I do but only as a cyberactivist.

INTERVIEW TO A MATH TEACHER

The teacher of maths has been a teacher at San Antonio School for twenty one years, so Nazarena Alegre interviewed her to know about her profession:

NA: How do you feel after twenty years as a teacher?
MS: I’m very happy, because I do what I like doing.
NA: What changes have happened during your teaching?
MS: The educative system changed.
NA: Did the students’ dedication change?
MS: There have always been students that study and others that don’t, since not all the students like maths.
NA: Was your way of explaining always the same?
MS: No, it changes. It depends on the students and the groups. My way of explaining got better with the experience through the years.
NA: If you had to choose again, would you choose the same profession?
MS: Yes, I wouldn’t doubt it.

FEES IN THE SKY

Our classmate Macarena was surffing the web and discovered something big: San Antonio School is not allowed to increase fees. This startled the parents and the students of San Antonio School. Anybody protested but everybody had paid in silence.

A journalist from Apple News asked some parents why they paid the fee with the illegal increase, and they answered that they were not sure about the unlawful increase.

TRIP RESERVATION

After debating a lot, on Tuesday 24th, we, 2nd Polimodal students, signed the reservation for our trip with the company Travel Rock. The trip will be approximately on September 15th, 2009.

On Friday 6th, we are going to sign the final contract and then we are going to begin paying the trip of our dreams.

DEBATE ABOUT POVERTY

Last Friday there was a debate about poverty, so Fernando Casal interviewed Nazarena Alegre, one students who was there.

FC: What was the debate about?

NA: It was about poverty.

FC: Would you help the poor?

NA: Yes, but everybody must help.

FC: How do you help them?

NA: Giving them food, clothes, education.

FC: And do you think that is the solution?

NA: No, it isn’t. The government must take care of all of us.

FC: What was the conclusion?

NA: There wasn’t a conclusion, we only gave our opinion.

VOLLEYBALL TOURNAMENT

The tournament was carried out by the schools of the west area of Buenos Aires. San Antonio school played this tournament but they could not arrive to the finals because they lost. The same, the teacher Miguel congratulated their effort.

Emiliano Negri said, "I was in the two games and I went very happy to my house because we left everything in the court to win. It hurts we were not able to."

TOURNAMENTS

This week students from different schools from Merlo participted in athletics’ tournaments. Nazarena Alegre interviewed one of the students, Virginia Dabrowski, who participated in the tournament.

NA: What sport did you play?

VD: I ran. Velocity.

NA: How were you?

VD: Excellent. I got the first place.

NA: How many students participated?

VD: Five.

NA: Were you nervous?

VD: Yes, I was very nervous.

NA: Are you going to participated again?

VD: Of course. If I won, I will participated again.

INTERVIEWS

In this issue we interviewed people from our school. The intention was to get to know their personalities and life.

DANIEL ÁVALOS

Dany Ábalos tells us that he is the godfather of a school in Cucuyu. Where some friars and students from our school will go to help.

Daniel: The idea arrived from something that the friars were thinking about; that all the schools belonging to Saint Francis brotherhood acted as godfathers to some other schools.

Interviewer: Where is Cucuyu?

Daniel: It is in San Antonio de Giles. In a little village in the place.

Interviewer: What do people in Cucuyu do?

Daniel: They live on agriculture, but the most important economic source is the brick making in the village factory.

Interviewer: Do women and children work too?

Daniel: Yes, they do. Very little children work there.

Interviewer: Will friars from our brotherhood participate?

Daniel: If they have time, they will. The idea is that the friars get involved in the experience.

Interviewer: How long will you be there?

Daniel: Two days. Friday eighteenth of July and Saturday nineteenth.

Interviewer: Where will they sleep?

Daniel: In a place next to the chapel or in sleeping bags in the chapel.

Interviewer: How much will you pay to travel?

Daniel: More or less fifty pesos.

Interviewer: How will you get the money?

Daniel: We will start different activities to obtain the money, so that all those who want to participate in the experience would be able to.

Interviewer: Thank you for your attention

Daniel: You’re welcome.

GABRIELA PÉREZ

1. Why do you choose this profession?

Because I really like the teaching

2. When did you start as a preceptor?

In October 1989. I was 20 years old.

3. How many schools do you work at?

Only at this one.

4. Do you have another activity? Which one?

Yes, I love artistic painting.

5. Where do you do this activity?

In my house.

MIRIAM BECCAR

1. Why do you choose this profession?

Because I like this since I was young.

2. When did you start as a Catechism teacher?

I was 16 years old. I was leader in a vacation camp.

3. How many schools do you work at?

Now I work in 3 schools, but I’ve worked in more than 20 schools.

4. Do you have another activity? Which one?

Yes, the 3^rd Franciscan Orden.

5. Where do you do like this activity?

In Padua’s Church.
