INTERVIEW TO A MATH TEACHER

The teacher of maths has been a teacher at San Antonio School for twenty one years, so Nazarena Alegre interviewed her to know about her profession:

NA: How do you feel after twenty years as a teacher?
MS: I’m very happy, because I do what I like doing.
NA: What changes have happened during your teaching?

MS: The educative system changed.
NA: Did the students’ dedication change?

MS: There have always been students that study and others that don’t, since not all the students like maths.
NA: Was your way of explaining always the same?
MS: No, it changes. It depends on the students and the groups. My way of explaining got better with the experience through the years.
NA: If you had to choose again, would you choose the same profession?
MS: Yes, I wouldn’t doubt it.

FEES IN THE SKY

Our classmate Macarena was surffing the web and discovered something big: San Antonio School is not allowed to increase fees. This startled the parents and the students of San Antonio School. Anybody protested but everybody had paid in silence.

A journalist from Apple News asked some parents why they paid the fee with the illegal increase, and they answered that they were not sure about the unlawful increase.

SCHOOL FEES INCREASE

Last month the fees increased too much. Parents were very angry for this. San Antonio school doesn’t offer extra activities for students. San Antonio’s school is falling off professionally and institutionally. It doesn’t offer the same that years ago, for example, the education, the respect between the students and teachers or the attention to the students. The constant absences of the teachers cause the anger of parents that are paying the fee of the school.

Causes for this anger:

- Desks in bad condition

- Chairs in very bad condition

- Dangerous windows

- Heaters in bad condition

- Toilets without the necessary elements

- Absences of teachers.

SCHOOL IN BAD CONDITION

On Monday 17 March, there was a leak on the ceiling. Some pieces of painting started to fall. Finally, a big piece of ceiling fell down. Three days later the students wrote a letter to the headmaster, but he didn’t answer.

Two days later, the headmaster and the legal manager of the school came to our classroom to talk with us about the problem. One of the students said, “We pay a very expensive fee, this can’t happen”. The legal manager said, “To fix the problem is not as easy as we thought”.

A CELL PHONE IS THE PROBLEM

Last wednesday, in Cristina Comas's class, a problem aroused. Twelve students played a practical joke. This consisted in hiding a cell phone to ring it later during the class. This joke provoked the teacher's anger and she said "No sé por qué tipo de tecnologías lo lograron."

Later, the teacher called the vice-principal to penalize the responsible. This consisted in eight "amonestaciones."

WICHI COMMUNITY

Estela created an organization that every year collects food, clothes, toys, etc. These elements are sent once a year to Salta for the Wichi Community. They are in need of these elements.

At the school door there is a box; in this we put these objects. Every week we put different elements. This week we are giving sugar.

These elements will be handed by the end of the month. Today, the vice-principal came to the Chemistry class to remind us of this project and said, “Help us and collect elements for the community.”
